Gender reassignment

It is our aim to understand any differential impacts for trans people as we know that there can be significant impacts on their treatment and care when using our services. Gender reassignment services are commissioned nationally by NHS England Specialised Commissioning. More information can be found here: https://www.england.nhs.uk/commissioning/spec-services/npc-crg/gender-dysphoria-clinical-programme/

There are local networks for trans people:

Currently there are no standard national sources of transgender statistics, nor is there standard data on the use of health services or referrals to gender identity clinics. However, GIRES (the Gender Identity Research and Education Society) estimate that 0.6-1% of the population may experience gender dysphoria.
