The Cheshire & Merseyside Health & Care Partnership covers a population of 2.6m people and is the third largest regional footprint of its kind in the country. Our Partnership includes 9 local authorities, 12 clinical commissioning groups, 19 NHS providers, and 9 Place-based Care Systems including the Voluntary Sector and GP Providers. We are committed to eliminating inequality in our populations by working collaboratively to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents and the quality of their care, whilst addressing long-standing operational and financial sustainability challenges within our services. Our transformation is happening at both a system-wide programme as well as a local, Place-based level and is overseen by our System Management Board drawn from within the Partnership.
The appointment of a Non-Executive Chair comes at a critical time in our Partnership’s development. From this autumn, with an agreed Five-Year Health and Care Strategy for Cheshire and Merseyside to guide us, we will have aligned our Partnership priorities, future actions and budgets. With unprecedented demand on our services alongside significant challenges in our financial sustainability, the need to move at pace to tackle ‘wicked issues’ whilst safeguarding quality and patient outcomes is recognised. Having the right leadership and governance at the system level will be vital to ensuring the successful implementation of our strategy and the achievement of Integrated Care System (ICS) status by 2020-21.
We are seeking a Chair who will be committed to delivering our vision; an experienced leader who will quickly gain credibility with our wide range of stakeholders. Bringing knowledge and understanding that will support the delivery of real transformational change in a complex and dynamic public sector environment, your track record of working across organisational boundaries will support your success in this high-profile position. With a strong national or regional reputation; you will be a politically astute and skilled ambassador with exceptional strategic influencing, communication and leadership skills. Brokering difficult decisions and articulating the advantages of engagement and co-production; this is an influential position and a unique opportunity to provide leadership to a wide range of stakeholders who are passionate about addressing inequality and unlocking the potential of our region.
